A respected and experienced litigator, Sara grew up in Abbotsford. After spending some time out of province, she has returned to raise her family in her hometown. Sara's practice focuses on estate litigation, employment litigation, real estate disputes, shareholder/director disputes, and other general litigation.

Sara completed law school at the University of Alberta and clerked for the Justices of the Alberta Court of Appeal. She continued her career with a national law firm in Calgary, AB, where she practised commercial litigation and gained trial and appeal experience on large commercial files. She returned to Abbotsford in 2020 and worked for a local law firm, where she focused on general litigation, including estate, employment, real estate, personal injury, and other general civil litigation.

Sara decided to open Albert & Co. Law so she could focus on client service. She wanted to create an open, welcoming environment where clients come first. She has built a team that provides high-level legal services in a way that clients can understand.

Sara considers it her job to take a heavy burden off your shoulders and carry it until it is resolved. She believes in practical advice with the goal of resolving your dispute quickly and efficiently with as little Court involvement as possible. However, if Court is necessary, Sara is experienced, articulate, and will argue your case vigorously.

What is a Termination Without Cause?

Employers can give written working notice, or an equal amount of pay called compensation for length of service. They may also give a combination of both notice and pay. Termination without cause occurs where an employee is fired or let go for reasons that are not related to serious misconduct. If an employee has been terminated with cause, that means the employer has enough legal reason to end their employment immediately because of significant wrongdoing. There must have been conduct by the employee which goes to the root of the employment contract, fundamentally strikes at the employment relationship and therefore fractures the employment relationship that cannot be recovered. It is considered one of the harshest ways to be dismissed by an employer. Examples of conduct include serious misconduct, incompetence, theft or fraud, and willful disobedience.
