Marc grew up in the Abbotsford area, attending and graduating at Mennonite Educational Institute. He later went on to pursue theological studies at Canadian Mennonite University in Manitoba. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Marc worked in both the restaurant and construction industries.

Marc received his Juris Doctor at Thompson Rivers University in 2021. After completing his articles at a respected local firm, he went on to develop a practice in civil litigation, with a focus on debt claims and construction disputes. He has experience appearing in both the Provincial and the Supreme Courts of British Columbia.

Marc is passionate about getting people out of stressful experiences and situations so they can get back to living life. He sees his role in the world of law as a protracted facilitation of resolving conflict, and finding ways to help people move forward with what is important to them.

Outside of the office, Marc spends his time in the mountains, Mexico, and mixing music in the local nightlife scene.

What is a Termination Without Cause?

Employers can give written working notice, or an equal amount of pay called compensation for length of service. They may also give a combination of both notice and pay. Termination without cause occurs where an employee is fired or let go for reasons that are not related to serious misconduct. In these situations, an employee can be asked to leave with no reason given for the termination.

If an employee has been terminated with cause, that means the employer has enough legal reason to end their employment immediately because of significant wrongdoing. There must have been conduct by the employee which goes to the root of the employment contract, fundamentally strikes at the employment relationship and therefore fractures the employment relationship that cannot be recovered. It is considered one of the harshest ways to be dismissed by an employer. Examples of conduct include serious misconduct, incompetence, theft or fraud, and willful disobedience.
