Harp was born and raised in Ontario and relocated to beautiful British Columbia in 2023. Inspired by her family’s business sense, she pursued a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Marketing at Toronto Metropolitan University. After working in business and real estate, Harp followed her passion for law and earned her law degree with honors from the University of Leicester.

After completing law school, Harp worked at a law firm in downtown Toronto where she worked closely with litigation lawyers, assisting in legal research and preparing documents for court.

Before joining Albert & Co as an articling student, Harp served as a court clerk at the Abbotsford Law Courts. In this role, she gained invaluable experience in family, civil, and criminal law, while becoming well-versed in courtroom procedures. Harp has had the privilege of clerking numerous trials, applications, hearings, and case conferences in both Provincial and Supreme Court.

Harp hopes to embody the values of Albert & Co in her work. She is strategic and driven in her approach. Harp is looking forward to finding solutions for her clients and advocating for them in court when necessary.

Harp is fluent in English, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu.

Outside of work, Harp enjoys writing poetry, travelling and spending time with her husband.

What is a Termination Without Cause?

Employers can give written working notice, or an equal amount of pay called compensation for length of service. They may also give a combination of both notice and pay. Termination without cause occurs where an employee is fired or let go for reasons that are not related to serious misconduct. If an employee has been terminated with cause, that means the employer has enough legal reason to end their employment immediately because of significant wrongdoing. There must have been conduct by the employee which goes to the root of the employment contract, fundamentally strikes at the employment relationship and therefore fractures the employment relationship that cannot be recovered. It is considered one of the harshest ways to be dismissed by an employer. Examples of conduct include serious misconduct, incompetence, theft or fraud, and willful disobedience.
